The French government is preparing for a full and total cut off of its Russian gas supplies, This is the likely scenario that has already started its forward planning and implementation.

With only 17% of the supply to france coming from Russia, France is less dependant than some of its european neighbours. however a cut off right at this moment may still be very troublesome as the french nuclear power generation would struggle to meet the new demand.

Le Maire said the first line of defence was for households and businesses to cut energy consumption, then the construction of new infrastructure like a floating plant that will be able to regasify liquid natural gas shipments from overseas.
