The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced the monkeypox outbreak a concern to the public of international level.
World Health Organization (WHO) made the decision on Saturday morning after WHO assembled its second emergency committee on the issue on Thursday.
“I have decided that the global monkeypox outbreak represents a public health emergency of international concern,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced on Saturday morning.
Tedros said while the assembly was unable to come to an agreement, he came to the decision subsequent to considering the five elements required on concluding whether a outbreak comprises a general wellbeing crisis of international concern.
